When planning your move be sure to consider the following:

Server Provisioning: The cheapest box may not be your best solution be the most expensive, latest and greatest machine may not be either. Consider your current server usage and any plans for growth that you have over the next 12 to 18 months. Do you see yourself doubling in size? Remaining the same? Are you considering moving or changing control panels or distributions? We can help you find a server that will best fit your current and future needs.
Configuring the New Server: Your new server is provisioned but is it ready to go? Have the correct updates and patches been applied to your OS and control panel? Do you need specific versions of PHP and MySQL? Are there special modules you need? Moving your data to a new server with a similar configuration can reduce the headaches and stress of post-migration issues. We can help you get your new server ready, configuring and securing it so it's ready for your data.
Prepping the Old Server: Do you have ancient accounts on your current server that haven't been used for months? If you haven't cleaned out those old files and accounts in a while, please consider doing this prior to migration. Data transfer is often the most time consuming part of the migration process. Properly preparing your old server can reduce the total time of your migration. We can assist you in cleaning up unused accounts, clearing mail queues and unneeded log files so that your old server is prepped and ready for migration.
DNS Changes: Once the basic migration is complete DNS will need to be changed to point to your new server. You will want to have a plan in place. When is the best time to make the switch? Are you switching nameservers? Who will update the registrar? We can help. While DNS is propagating you may have some users going to each server. We can make sure your databases on the new server remain in sync with any changes made by users hitting the old server. We can also setup workarounds to redirect email to prevent loss. We can help coordinate DNS changes so they go as smoothly as possible.
